Anthony Povah

Anthony is an award-winning writer and filmmaker born in Liverpool and now based in Lancashire. In 2017 he reached the interview stage of the BBC Drama Room scheme and was selected for (and completed) the New Writing North Significant Ink programme for talented, emerging screenwriters.

During 2019 he made his playwriting debut at The Dukes Theatre in Lancaster as co-writer of ‘Escaping the Perfects’, and wrote, co-directed and co-produced his first narrative short film ‘A Cheat’s Guide to Time Travel’ with Bina Film.

In 2020 he made his second short film as writer, co-director and co-producer - the comedy-drama ‘Slots’ - which has been selected for 23 film festivals and achieved 6 wins; the script also reaching the finals of the Fresh Voices and Nantucket Film Festival Showtime Tony Cox screenplay competitions.

He has recently acted as a script consultant for Red Film’s production ’Transgressing’, and his third short film with Bina as writer, co-producer and co-director - ‘Kidnap’ - is due for release in 2023. Anthony’s writing regularly places at semi-final or higher in major competitions in the US and UK.

His most recent project - a TV conspiracy thriller - is rated in the Top 1% of all scripts on the global script platform Coverfly.
