Yan Hui Chew

(aka Chew Yan Hui)

Yan Hui is a Singaporean creative who participates in filmmaking, photography, and live performances (music and theatre).

During her time at Bina Film, she took charge in managing the social media accounts for Bina Film, mainly keeping their Instagram accounts and main website up to date with the latest projects as well as redesigning their website. Aside from managing their social media pages and website, Yan Hui assisted in creating promotional content for Kidnap (2023), mainly the trailers, teasers, and film poster. She also assisted in editing and mixing the sound for Kidnap (2023).

With a Diploma in Applied Drama and Psychology (Singapore Polytechnic) and a BaHons in Film and Sociology (Lancaster University), she is passionate about the relationship between the arts and social issues.

During her time at Singapore Polytechnic (2015-2018), she has written and performed a theatre piece, a social commentary about the welfare in Singapore called Circumstance (Commacon 2016), as well as creating a drama workshop to explore the relationship between self-esteem in elderly and drama/theatre activities (Life’s Little Joys, 2017).

At her time at Lancaster University, she edited a film, Decay (2022), which looked at the effects of capitalism and deindividuation. A film student and also a sociology student, her own experimental film, you feeling this?!? (2023), further explores the modern day experience of living in a capitalist society and the feeling of being overwhelmed by climate change and humanitarian issues.

Aside from filmmaking, Yan Hui has experience in the live performance industry in Singapore as a live musician and intern at a costume management company.
